How to arrive

Each summer, approximately 300.000 visitors arrive in Punta del Este.

Most tourists – close to 70% – come from the Republic of Argentina, and rest are Brazilians, Paraguayans and visitors from the rest of the world.

For this reason, the infraestructure to gain access into the city has been developed with emphasis towards Argentina, but due to sustained growth of the tourist flow from other spots, important investments in the airport have been made; it now has the capacity to receive all kinds of aircrafts and has broadened the access capacity into the peninsula with new ways of access.

Foreign visitors do not need to carry out any special immigration proceedings and Mercosur citizens – Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay – only need their Identity Cards.

Minors travelling on their own only have to prove compliance with the emigration rules of the country of origin, which generally consist in a written permit from the parents.
